The Travelodge at Gatwick was a nightmare. Just walking up the stairs the stench from the soiled carpet was similar to the locker room. Yes, walking up the stairs, because the elevator did not work. There were no towels in the room,AND no shower head. The couch in the room was shabby and looked dangerous to sit on. The breakfast was not edible - lack of, or dirty silverware. The "hot" items were cold, everyone in the dining room was complaining. This was the most expensive hotel we stayed

the room was comfortable but the mattress was so soft that I felt buried in it. There was no top sheet after the comforter. The food was great compared to the ones we eat in paris and rome.
