Hotel Facilities
In the midst of the fascinating Spreewald idyll, surrounded by close timber forest, meadows and flowing, the hotel Waldhotel Eiche lies lonely and a little bit enchanted. A green oak sheet belongs to the logo of the hotel, which can look back on a long tradition. Built as a small reeds-roofed blockhouse in 1756 what was usual for the Spreewald at that time, it is said that the "Old Fritz" should have stopped off there some years later visiting "his" colonists in Burg's today's local part Burg- Kolonie. The "Eiche" attained literary celebrity by an attendance of Theodor Fontane in the year 1859 about which he wrote in his "Migrations through the Mark Brandenburg": "... and drive in another sharp bend into a broad, but everywhere with snake herbs (calla) overgrown arm of the river, that leads us in less than one hour to the "Eiche", an inn in the middle of the Spreewald, held in good reputation by Mrs. Schenker." In the course of the time the Spreewald, this unique landscape of a labyrinth of arms of the river, forests and pastures attracted more and more day-trippers, so that toward the end of the 19th century the small blockhouse was replaced by a stately building of clinkers with wooden verandas. Thus the framework for the changes and extensions in the years 1991 to 1993 was given, too. The impressive building of bricks with a tower fits itself into the landscape marvelously by multicolored balcony boxes, the vegetation with wild wine and other climbers as well as the spacious park, and is connected with it in various ways. Inside the hotel 62 generous rooms and suites on 3 floors, which are connected with an elevator, expect the guests. Cozy roof rooms, rooms with balcony and the 2003 new designed gable rooms are only some of our offered rooms and ensure a pleasant stay to all guests. Of course all rooms have telephone, satellite TV-equipment with radio, mini bar and a bath with tub, WC, hair dryer and lit makeup mirror. For the special requirement eight small suites are available, of which the Fontane Suite and the Wedding Suite are arranged completely individually. From the impressive, up to the entire height of the house reaching hotel hall with reception you reach the Restaurant Fontane, which particularly unfolds its whole charm in the evening hours, the non-smoker Winter Garden with terrace and the Fire-Place Room suitable for small groups. The extensive and regionally influenced breakfast buffet is served in the Restaurant Burg and afterwards the restaurant is at the disposal of the many daily guests of the Spreewald until the evening hours. The following large Beer Garden under old oaks who gave the hotel name forms the centre of the hotel in the summer months and is then used for breakfast, too. With the Banquet Hall Spreewald in a wooden veranda a further, more rustic and rural looking room is available for meetings such as weddings, family celebrations and banquets with up to 100 persons. Of course, also conferences and seminars can take place here, for which two differently large conference rooms in a further wooden veranda and the intimate Salon Queen Luise in the first floor are additionally at disposal. Nearly all rooms are opened by large glass areas and include thus the Spreewald landscape in their character, too. The Waldhotel Eiche is situated uniquely in the zone II of the biosphere reserve Spreewald on a 65.000 square metres large property and underlines impressively the character of this landscape, which reminds lovely and variedly rather of large English arranged parks than of a predominantly agriculturally used culture landscape. From the hotel-own punt port at the flow "Gro'es Flie'" punters start smaller and larger routes that last from one hour to the day trip to L'bbenau.
