Overview

Casa Marina Beach & Reef is an all inclusive resort built on a private reef, with two ivory-sand beaches. The resort is located in the lively town of Sosua, 10 minutes from Puerto Plata International Gregorio Luperón Airport (POP)and 25 minutes from the city of Puerto Plata.

This family-friendly resort features 678 superior air-conditioned guestrooms which have balconies or patios with garden, pool, or ocean views. The resort has two sides: the beach side fronted by a large, beach and the reef side fronted by an old, cliff-like coral reef, into which were built sunning terraces and three, 12-person cool-water spas overlooking the sea, as well as another beach accessed by a wood structure. Wrought-iron benches arrayed on a spacious flagstone terrace between this resort's pool and its sunning terraces welcome romantic couples for moonlit sea-view interludes.

The all-inclusive program includes room, tips, and taxes, all meals (buffet style), snacks, daily teatime (16:00-17:00), alcoholic and non-alcoholic house drinks, day and night animation program, and non-motorized water sports. 5 restaurants, 2 buffets and 3 a-la-carte which require reservations, as well as 6 bars.

For entertainment, there are 3 free-form pools - one with a childrens section - and a dedicated Kids pool. Supervised activities for children aged 4 to 12 open from 9:00 am to 5 pm. Daily daytime program includes aerobics, beach volleyball, dance classes, and contests. Also 1 hour per client per day use of bikes and non-motorized water sports (snorkeling, kayaking, boogie boarding, and scuba-diving clinics at the pool). Also table games, table tennis on the beach, billiard, foosball tables and computers with dial-up access (surcharge). There are 3 cash bars including the one in the discotec too.

For more entertainment, there are several options, including daily live shows by our animation team at a tiered-seating amphitheater, and the Calypso Disco - open from 11 pm until 3 am (entrance free and drinks are not included).

  Great value for the money.

The resort is in a beautiful location, and the seafood restaurant was the best on the property. The beds in the room were definately too small and very uncomfortable. The property was very clean, however. The aerobic classes were not offered at convenient times of the day (4 pm), so I think they should offer them in the morning, so that people can get on with their daily excursions. This resort would really benefit from having a fitness center. Overall, would return there again.

  OK, but could be better!

The room was dirty. The sheets in one bed had crumbs of some sort. The room is in need of an update. The pools are nice. The food was adequate. The beach was acceptable. The windows and mirrors were filthy. The floors were dirty, I never removed my flip flops.

  kiteboarding was sick in cabarete

an ok hub for kiting. None right at the resort but hop a cab for 350 pesos ( 12 dollars) each way and kite all day in cabarete. THe hotel was pretty good for what we paid. Good food in the Restaurantes. Skip the Buffet if possible. Beer in buffet and restaurants was actually presidente. The bars served cheap rum and tequelia and horrible bohemia beer brewed by presidente. Buy your own rum and mix your own drinks with their mixes. Beach was clean. Rooms were made up ok but sheets were changed onc

  Sub Par All Inclusive

For an all inclusive, this hotel was not a great choice. The physical hotel was not in great shape- the clock tower in the front entrance was not functioning, the telescope lens needed to be changed, and the dining rooms had terrible lighting. The food was unhealthy and at times unappetizing. The restaurants were ok, but the wine that was included was not good and lobster and shrimp cost extra. Anything that was of mediocrity had to be purchased, which was dissappointing. The room itself w

  Good Adult Get-Away

There is too much good food so it is difficult to maintain some sort of discipline in eating. Food served at convenient hours. Beautiful environment in all directions except towards town. Easy check-in and very friendly staff. Room could have had an additional chair. And lights could have been a bit brighter. But excellent value for the money spent. I easily recommend this hotel to friends.
