Hotel Facilities
A fantastic looking hotel, well finished and right in the heart of City. (DB 12/07) In 1751 the hotel was extensively rebuilt and a fine Georgian frontage was added, which has remained part of the landscape of Southampton high street ever since. William IV and Adelaide, his Queen bestowed their coat of arms on the hotel which was a popular place to rest for the night in the Elizabethan era. The hotel remained fashionable during the 19th century and was host to such celebrities as Queen Victoria, Jane Austen and Thackeray. Situated in the heart of the city centre along one of the main shopping streets. Southampton railway station is just a few minutes walk away. Shops, restaurants and local attractions are all at its doorstep. |
