Gorgeous - classy - convenient!
The Holiday Inn in York is conveniently located on the way into town, very close to York University, in probably the most attractive urban area I saw during my weeklong stay in England. Access to the old city is simple, although parking there is hard to find. Once in the walled center, walking leads to many pleasant areas. Upon returning to the Holiday Inn it is wonderful to find abundant and free parking. The rooms are the finest I experienced in England or Scotland. I even got ideas for

Convenient location
This hotel was in good shape, everything was clean, and the front desk staff were very nice. The room attendants were extremely helpful also. My only complaint was the elevators were a bit scary. Once we got stuck in it with another family with a small child who was very frightened. We were well under the weight limit for the elevator, but the maintenance man was rude and said it was our fault. If it is labelled properly, then it was not our fault.
